Project included a new roof, siding, windows, soffit and gutters, all of which had aged. We used Royal Estate 0.44 traditional vinyl siding, GAF Timberline HD shingles and Simonton 5500 series DH vinyl windows. Finally, aluminum gutters and Raindrop gutter guards were installed.
The homeowner wanted a complete exterior remodel on his home, which included components that had aged and were in need of replacement. He requested that VIS Exterior come to his home for an inspection and offer an estimate for a new roof, siding, windows, soffit/fascia and gutters and gutter guards. This represents a large project that takes many variables into account.
After carefully mapping out a plan for the extensive project, we started with the roof, removing the existing materials and inspecting the plywood underneath to ensure it was of sound quality. We laid a new underlayment and then installed GAF Timberline HD shingles in Slate color. We cut and installed a ridge vent, as well as an ice and water shield six feet up from the gutters to prevent ice dams from forming.
With the roof completed, the VIS crew began removing the old aluminum siding. We installed 1⁄4-in. fanfold and taped all seams. After the fanfold was installed, we removed old windows and replaced them with far more energy efficient Simonton #5500 brand vinyl DH windows. The windows were wrapped with white aluminum to match the window color. For adding protection and seal, we used spray foam around the windows.
Next, the siding crew moved in with Royal Estate 0.44 traditional siding in a Midnight Surf color. We chose aluminum white soffit/fascia and aluminum seamless 5-in. RainDrop gutter system, with 3-in. By 4-in. downspouts.
Given the size and scope of the project, we made sure to remove all construction debris from the job site as we progressed through each phase. This pleased the homeowner, as did our ability to complete the project on time and on budget.
