When VIS Exterior took on this large project, we knew using GAF Timberline HDZ would be a good fit, especially with the charcoal color, which works well against homes with red brick facades. Plus, the shingles are “WindProven,” which means there is no maximum wind speed limitation on the warranty. Furthermore, the durability of these shingles is enhanced with GAF’s “LayerLock” technology. The homeowner chose charcoal colored shingles and white aluminum gutters with 3 in. by 4 in. downspouts, which are materials that accentuate the brick facade of the home.
With many clients in Glen Ellyn, we are familiar with the type of weather common in this area and know that many roofs take a beating year after year, so with this project, we took off the old roofing system off down to the plywood and installed quality underlayment before installing the flashing and shingles.
