This residential project involved replacing damaged aluminum siding with vinyl siding. A new roof was installed, as well as gutters, which had been damaged by hail. Aside from the vinyl siding, we used GAF Timberline HD shingles, seamless aluminum gutters and 3-in. by 4-in. downspouts.
The homeowner requested that VIS Exterior work with his insurance company following a hail storm that damaged his home. We provided an inspection of the home and gave the customer an estimate.
Part of the reason he wanted us to work with his insurance company, which said they would only cover the roof replacement and two sides of the house. VIS scheduled a meeting with the insurance company and discussed our inspection findings. That meeting led to the adjuster agreeing that all three damaged sides of the home would be covered.
With insurance issues now covered, we began the project by replacing the roof with GAF Timberline HD shingles in Weathered color. We installed a new skylight and roof vents. To prevent ice dams from forming, we installed ice and water shields on the roof.
With the new roof on, the VIS crew removed the old aluminum siding from the whole house, installed 1⁄4-in. fanfold insulation and taped all the seams. We installed new Royal Estate 0.44 Dutch lap vinyl siding and new seamless 0.32 gutters. The downspouts were replaced with new 3-in. by 4-in. downspouts.
The customer was quite happy with our ability to work with the insurance company to cover all the damage, but he was also pleased that the project was completed on budget and on time.
